Create a Change Request
A change request is the starting point for any governed configuration change to a device. You describe the intent, select the target device, and then add structured actions before submitting for approval.
Before you start
- Know which device you want to change — it must already exist as an asset in NetEdgeIQ.
- Have a clear description of what you want to do and why.
Steps
-
Go to Changes in the main navigation.
-
Click New Change Request (or the + button).
-
Fill in the change details:
Field Description Example Title Short name for this change Update port descriptions on DC-LEAF-2Description Full explanation of what you're changing and why Renaming ports Gi0/1–3 to reflect cabling after last week's rack move.Target device The device this change applies to DC-LEAF-2 -
Click Save or Create.
What happens next
- The change request is created in
draftstatus with a reference number — for example,CHG-0016. - You are taken to the change request detail page.
- From here, you must add at least one change action before you can submit. A change request cannot be submitted without at least one action.
Admin note
Admins see an Organization selector. Select the correct org first — the target device list
is filtered to that org's assets.
